Best Places to Watch the World Series in Davis – Starting October 24th
Surprise, surprise! Due to its high density of beer swillers, er, college students, Davis is home to several excellent sports bars. If you’re looking for a place to hang out with dozens of other strangers to cheer, moan, and swear your team on to victory you have several excellent choices.
Whether you’re a Detroit Tigers fan or San Francisco Giants fan, you’ll have a lot of company at The Graduate. Long a favored hang-out for students and families alike, The Davis Graduate (805 Russell Blvd, in the University Mall) had a moment of infamy after being featured in the mercifully brief TV show “Sorority Life.” Today, it’s a great place to find happy hour drinks and a noisy, enthusiastic crowd. Uncle Vito’s (524 2nd Street), KetMoRee (238 G Street), The G Street Wunderbar (228 G Street) and Froggy’s (726 2nd Street) will be offering their usual happy hour specials “and be turning the sound way up” on their TVs. Sudwerk (2001 2nd Street, under the Pole Line over-crossing) has a large round bar with several screens. They’re offering game day specials on beer of $5 liters and $3 pints. Applebee’s (1753 Research Park Drive) is offering $6 pitchers of domestic beer during the games. Bistro 33 (226 F Street) and Cafe Bernardo (234 D Street) will probably be catering to more of the over 30 crowd (not that we’re admitting to being a day over 29!). At Bernardo’s from 3:00-6:00 on game days they will offer $3 well drinks, bar fries & sliders and $3 beer on tap. Little Prague (330 G Street) will be offering $1 beers and 1/2 price appetizers during the games until the last pitch is thrown. DeVere’s Irish Pub (217 E Street) and Sophia’s Thai Kitchen (129 E Street) weren’t answering their phones.
Game days are October 24th, 25th, 27th, and 28th. As needed, they may be extended to October 29th, 31st, and November 1st. All games start around 5:00 p.m.
