More telling, however, is the justified praise heaped on the young violinist by critics and judges, including Michael White ofThe Telegraph: “Not just the mechanical wonder that some of his fellow entrants were, running through a repertoire of immaculately learnt tricks, but a soul!” A former student of Itzhak Perlman and San Francisco Symphony Concertmaster Alexander Barantschik, Waarts now attends the Curtis Institute of Music.
